Quarter-Life Crisis

Close to three decades of blood, sweat and tears of joy
Tears of pain and tears of laughter
Memories of ‘back in the day’, weighed down by an overwhelming sense of underachievement
This, is my quarter life crisis
Still young at heart and young in the face as the doors of opportunity appear to slam shut, hit me in the arse and lock themselves behind me
“If I knew then what I know now”, as I write this apology to my 15 year old self
Filled with regrets, replaying episodes of the past 26 years I take stock of my assets
My health, my family, my friends
Money can’t buy me love and I will repay them all with my successes
So as I write this promise to myself in 5 – 10 years I am consoled by the thought that “Life begins at 40”
That was my quarter life crisis

By George Bradley

My friend has submitted to me his first poem so I thought I would share it with you all, enjoy!

Living an Eternity

I feel I've lived a life shaded by a previous
Like I've lived a life far too serious
The person I am has been moulded into this
And my actions speak more than your contemporary kiss

You're new to this world while my soul has lived an eternity
I feel like you're encased in a given certainty
That this life is the only one you will ever get
While I have thoughts of distant pasts I'll never forget

You try and live your life to the fullest
While I savour ever minute, knowing that living forever can be the cruellest
Test of all, as I know I will see you again but you will be another
A new entity that could even be my brother

In different Centuries our souls have been created
They meet this time in a world that leaves us segregated
My heart longs for a stable ending
As I know my soul will be forever pending

My Heart

My heart he searched for
Til dawn I was told
When he found it
It was black & cold
He nourished it
Brought it back to life
I sit and wonder why? Oh why?

"My love" he screamed
Passion in his eye
I love you more today
Than the day you died
My pain & ache deep, deep inside
Is why I have strength to never cry

My heart he saved
Has a vivid memory of yesterday's pain
My heart he saved
Torn and tattered, but now its brave
My heart he saved
Its where he tattooed his name
My heart he saved
His life he gave
